Teaching pH in rainwater and wastewater treatment through experiential education
Abstract
This work aims to understand the impact of applying a didactic sequence focused on the teaching the concept of ph, based on chemical treatments for the neutralization and disinfection of rain and wastewater, viewed from the perspective of experiential education, applied to tenth-grade students at Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento District School located in Puente Aranda, Bogotá D.C. The methodology was directed towards a mixed research approach divided into three stages: opening activities, practical development, and closing activities. The results obtained upon completion of the didactic sequence application show positive outcomes in the appropriation of the ph concept along with its intrinsic characteristics; the advancement in the level of handling laboratory instruments; the ability for argumentation, analysis, and the recognition of water characteristics along with its rational use and care.
