Biodiversity conservation in zoos and aquariums from their audiences
Abstract
Facing the controversies in which zoos and aquariums are inserted, it is important to understand whether the visitors recognize, from their expository discourse, their role in the conservation of biodiversity. In this research, a survey was applied, obtaining 978 responses in 10 institutions (6 Brazilian and 4 foreign). A qualitative-quantitative approach was carried out. The audiences attribute to these informal educational settings the mission of preservation, maintenance, care and protection of biodiversity, although directed to a preservationist and utilitarian perspective.
