Learning About Birds Using an Egg-Incubator in Primary School

Keywords: Natural Sciences, chick hatching, birds, embryos, eggs

Abstract

This work presents a didactic experience for the first courses of Primary Education, with the aim of learning, in an active and participative way, about domestic birds, especially the hen. The central axis is a hen egg incubation activity in the classroom to follow embryonic development for 21 days. This axis is supported by a series of dynamic activities around embryonic development and the knowledge of vertebrate animals, especially birds, through the example of the hen. In this way, meaningful learning by students is achieved through observation and inquiry.
