Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

The submission has not been previously published nor has it been submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the "Comments to the editor").
The submitted file is in Microsoft Word format. One of the files has all the requested metadata, including the information of the author or authors. The other is completely anonymous. The names of the authors are not included either in the text or in the properties of the document.
Last edition APA standards apply for titles and references.
The text has space and a half line spacing; 12 points of font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except in URLs); and all the illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places of the text, instead of at the end.
The text complies with the requirements indicated in the instructions for the authors.
You have read and agree with the ethical guidelines of the journal.
In the case of the approval of the article, its publication, reproduction, edition, distribution, and national and international disclosure is authorized by printed, digital, internet or any other means.

Author Guidelines

Submission of papers

All article submissions to the journal must be made through the journal's website. If you do not have a username and password, click on "Register" at the top right.

Registration and login to the journal site are required to submit items online and to check the status of recent submissions. Once you have created the user, you must follow the steps indicated, and fill in all the data corresponding to the author(s). In particular, it is necessary to indicate at least in the metadata:

Type of article
For each author: full name and surname, e-mail, institutional affiliation (institution of affiliation), Orcid code.
About the article: Title in the original language, abstract in the original language, keywords in the original language, and bibliographic references used according to current APA standards.

Please note that at least four files must be uploaded to the system:

Full article with name, institutional affiliation, and mail of the author(s).
Article without author(s) name and data.
Authorization form (go to authorization form and ethical declaration for publication).
Letter of authorship (go to the letter of authorship)

Remember that the article document submitted should not have any marks or information that would allow identification of the author(s).

Guidelines for authors

1. All authors must have ORCiD.
2. The material must be unpublished.
3. If the article consists of the presentation of the results of research, the text must explicitly contain the methodology, results, and conclusions of the study; these must be differentiated from the theoretical and conceptual sections.
4. If the article presents a Reflection resulting from ongoing or completed research, this condition should be made explicit in the footnotes; consequently, the institution and the title of the project from which the reflection is derived should be mentioned.
5. If the article is intended as a review or state of the art that reports on advances and trends of an object of research, the bibliography should not be less than fifty (50) references.
6. If the article does not correspond to any of the above aspects, the author(s) must explicitly state whether it is a reflection not derived from research, a case report, a review of a topic, an essay, a systematization of experiences, etc.
7. In addition to reflections and derivative works, translations, and reviews of books in the field of education and pedagogy are welcome.

Characteristics of the articles

1. Articles should have a minimum length of 15 and a maximum of 20 pages, typed in letter size, in Times New Roman 12-point font. The bibliography and annexes such as graphs, tables, and others, if any, will be included separately from the text and will not count as part of the length of the text according to the template format for submission of articles.
2. After the title of each article, the full name of the author(s) should be included and with the asterisk symbol (not numbered) at the bottom of the page, the last academic degree, institutional affiliation, e-mail, and any clarifications considered pertinent should be included.
3. The Abstract should not be extracted verbatim from the body of the article since it corresponds to a synopsis or brief description of the work. It can be used to explain the framework of the Reflection or Research of the paper. The limit of characters (with spaces) is 800. In the case of the abstract in English and the summary in Portuguese, these must comply with the technical requirements of translation (they should not be done by virtual translators). The file uploaded to the platform must include the abstract in the three languages.
4. Keywords. Between four (4) and six (6) word terms or terms composed of two words that orient the reader on the area of knowledge of the work and that derive from the central concepts developed in it should be attached.
5. If tables and graphs are included, in addition to being present in the article, they should be sent in a separate file and as an annex, with their respective number, title, and source. In the text, the place of each graph or table should be indicated, according to the number (e.g., Table 1, Graph 2).
6. Also, the publication authorization form should be attached, including full names and surnames, academic background (undergraduate and graduate), postal address, telephone, fax, e-mail, nationality, a short list of recent publications, institutional affiliation, and areas of interest.

The papers received will be initially considered by both the Editorial Committee and the Scientific Support Committee; if accepted, they will be evaluated by national and foreign peers, under conditions of anonymity. Once the evaluations are received, the concepts will be sent to the authors for their knowledge. If the article is accepted, the authors will be promptly informed of the date of publication.

7. The submission of an article for publication implies the author's authorization to reproduce it by any printed or virtual means, at any time the Journal considers it pertinent.

Type of Papers

Research paper

Papers submitted as the results of a research must explicitly include the sections on theory (concepts), methodology, results or findings, and conclusions. Furthermore, the heading hierarchy of these sections must be duly numbered using the Arabic system (1., 1.1., 1.2., 2. etc.) according to advances and trends of a research object. References or documents consulted should be solid and broad enough according to the field or topic subject matter of the research.

Reflection paper

Papers submitted as a reflection resulting (or not) from a research should be supported on concepts and theories from the thematic field, with consistent arguments showing a solid and theoretical knowledge of the topic presented. Citations and references should reflect theoretical and conceptual knowledge. Sections should be separated by headings and subheadings duly numbered according to Arabic system hierarchy (1., 1.1., 1.2., 2. etc.).

Reviews

Bibliographic reviews or reviews of experiences or recently developed theses. In addition to the type of articles mentioned above, the journal also publishes interviews with thinkers and researchers whose studies contribute to reflections in the field of education and pedagogy; as well as book reviews, article translations and reprints addressing issues that contribute to debate and to the construction of knowledge or addressing current issues on the national and international education policy.

Articles translation

This journal accepts, in addition to the original article, a version translated from it to English to spread academic and scientific advances to a wider audience with international projection. It is essential that these translations show high quality and are carefully reviewed before being sent. If the original version of the article meets the necessary requirements for publication, the translation may be diagrammed and uploaded to the platform with the respective DOI code.

Citation and References

In the articles, quotations and references will follow the norms established by the American Psychological Association (APA) last edition.

When it comes to direct or textual quotations, that is, the exact words of another publication were transcribed, it is necessary to indicate the author's last name, the year of publication and the page from which the appointment was obtained. Here is an example:

“¿Dónde (y cuándo) viven aquellas personas que proclaman pomposamente sus derechos de propiedad sobre la tierra y el agua tomada de los negros a precios de remate después de traslados forzosos violentos? ¿En qué tiempo estamos viviendo algunos [...]?” (Asmal, Asmal & Suresh, 1996, p. 209).

When it is a paraphrase or indirect quote, that is to say that the ideas of the author are used, but not in their own words, only the name of the author and the year of publication should be included. Next you can see an example:

According to Preston King (2000), most of our difficulties in understanding the idea of a past that is still alive in the present lie in a certain confusion about what we understand by present and past.

At the end of each article a list should be included with the bibliographic references that were used in the research and that appear in the text. This list must be arranged alphabetically according to the last name of the author (a) following the norms established by the American Psychological Association (APA) in its latest edition. The title of this list must be References and each appointment must be double-spaced from each other. The bibliographical reference should include the surnames and initials of the authors, the title of the article, the volume and the page numbers.

Quotations from journal articles

The citations of the articles that appear in the journal will be made according to the norms established by the American Psychological Association (APA), last edition.

Informed consent

In the case of research involving individuals, especially children and young people, it is essential to attach as an annex to the article the informed consent model used in the investigation.

Authorship letter

To submit your article to the evaluation process, along with the full text, authors must sing the authorship letter

The submission of an article for publication implies that the author has given his/her consent for the article to be reproduced at any time and in any form which the Pedagogía y Saberes journal deems appropriate.
