Abstract

We share the first results of a research that revolves around trainers of trainers (FF) in the area of natural sciences, particularly on their Professional Development (PD), whose ultimate goal is to characterize the PD of FF. For this, it is necessary to identify both theoretically and empirically which are the components of that PD, which is the objective of this work. Initially we carried out a documentary investigation -first moment-, where the criteria that guided the search were: professional development, teacher learning, teacher growth and teacher change. Through content analysis and relying on Park and Oliver's Hexagon of Didactic Content Knowledge (2008), we represented the components of Teacher Professional Development (PPD) in a geometric figure, which was validated by experts. During the second moment, live research or field work, the intervention was carried out with the college of natural science teachers of the Benemérita Escuela Nacional de Maestros in Mexico City and various instruments were used. Finally, the findings obtained from the literature review, field work and expert judging allowed us to reconceptualize the DPP components and their representation through a new geometric figure: the DPP Sphere. Which is made up of three dimensions or scenarios: the classroom, the school and outside the school. And eight domains: personal, social, emotional, teacher identity, professional, knowledge, contextual and digital technologies.
